Task Force on Vandalism
final report is presented
to Nassau
County Executive

The Task Force, in a
year-long survey requested
by Purcell,
recommends state and
county legislation to
make parents more responsible
for the acts
of their children, to
make vandals' records
available to the courts
and district attorney,
and to strengthen
alcohol use laws.
The window smashers are at it again on
Broadway. This time the office windows of
Photonews L.I. Corp. and the Bethpage Tribune
were broken late Friday night, August 21.
The Broadway strip between the railroad
crossing and Seamans Avenue seems to be the
favorite area for target practice for these
unknown rock and egg throwers.
Barbies Ceramics is sporting a broken
window, Bi-County Mailing has been hit three
times, Greco Bros, at least once and Stan's deli
has had its share of problems including two
robberies.
The model of the Lunar Module on display in
the LIRR parking lot, a gift to Bethpage from the
Rotary Club, survived an attempt at vandalism a
while ago. The outer glass showed signs of being
hit with a cement block.
