Every year, children and adults are torn, burned and blinded
by fireworks. Because of the potential dangers to life, limb
and property inherent in fireworks, the legislature of the
State of New York enacted and passed laws which makes the
possession, use or sale of fireworks a criminal offense.
Each year, hundreds of violators are arrested, summonsed
or referred for further investigation for selling, possessing or
using fireworks. The Nassau County Police Department will
vigorously enforce all laws relating to fireworks.
How Can You Help?
PARENTS
1. Don't permit children to have fireworks. Remind them that
fireworks are dangerous, as well as illegal.
MERCHANTS
.2. Merchants selling fireworks show a flagrant disregard for
the law. They reap profits while endangering the life and
health of your children. Report them immediately to your
local police.
CITIZENS
3. Adults bringing illicit fireworks from other states and giving
or selling them to children are the culprits responsible
for much of the illegal fireworks shot off each year. Report
directors. He was elected a vice president the following year and still
serves in that capacity.
Natalie Alloy has been associated with UCP NASSAU for 20 years.
Following her term as president of the Plainview auxiliary from 1972-74
she became active on the council board. She has since served in many
capacities including publicity chairman and membership chairman. In
1978 she became district vice president, in 1980, was elected administrative
vice president and currently holds the position of executive vice
president.
