Bethpager Crowned Miss Polonia
Barbara Stasiewicz, who graduated from Beth-page
High School this past June, was selected
Miss Polonia 1982-83 at the Miss Polonia Pageant
recently held in Hempstead.
The pageant was sponsored by the General
Pulaski Parade Committee and was open to
young ladies 17-22 years of age of Polish descent
and residents of Nassau County. All applicants
were interviewed and 6 finalists were chosen.
At the pageant, the judges announced the 5
runners up one at a time. When Miss Stasiewicz
was asked what it felt like when just she and one
other finalist remained, she said she was nervous
and wondered who was going to win. She thought
she would lose and was shocked when she was
selected the winner.
This past Sunday, Barbara and her escort
attended the General Pulaski Memorial Committee
- 46th Annual Banquet which was held in the
Grand Ballroom at the Waldorf Astoria. Seven-hundred
people attended this social event to meet
Barbara and the other Polonia winners from the
northeast area.

the community. Barbara's proud parents, Christine
and Ron, are members of the Polish National
