Weekend Workout
, The B.H.S. Band, & Golden Girls, under the
direction of Fred Cohen music director at Beth-page
Schools, and seven chaperones went to a 4H
Camp from Friday Sept. 14th to Sunday Sept. 16.
The main purpose for going was to get in many
hours of practice for the half-time shows and
special events for the upcoming year. Despite the
weather conditions and roughing it, everyone
worked very hard and yet still had fun.

Finally a chance to eat and relax after a hard days work.
Long Island will soon have its own Sports Hall of Fame,
County Executive Francis T. Purcell announced at a
Mineola press conference today.
The permanent display honoring Long Island sports
•stars''will be located next to the Arena Club on the lower
level of the .Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The formal
opening is expected in mid-October.
The Hall of Fame is intended to honor athletes who live in
Nassau and Suffolk counties or who participated in sports
on Long Island for at least three years.
Seven top Long Island athletes will be inducted into the
Hall of Fame at a Dinner of Champions on Nov. 30 at the
Marriott Hotel in Uniondale. The dinner is sponsored by the
Pennysaver Foundation and the Multiple Sclerosis Society
of Nassau and Suffolk Counties for the benefit of the
society.
Twenty-two athletes honored at the society's dinners over
the past 10 years will also be enrolled in the Hall of Fame.
Five of this year's inductees are football stars Jim Brown
of Manhasset and Ed Danowski of East Patchogue; basketball
championJulius "Dr. J" Erving of Roosevelt; bowling
great Andy Varipapa of Huntington; and polo star Tommy
Hitchcock of Old Westbury.
The public will be invited to vote for two more inductees
through ballots printed in the Pennysaver publications.
The 22 earlier honorees are New York Islanders Bryan
Trottier, Ed Westfall,^l Arbour, Denis Potvin and Billy
