Massapequa Schdols Get
Short Oil Deliveries
Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon
has announced the filing of charges against the
Morgan Coal and Oil Corporation for short
deliveries of oil to several schools in the Massapequa
school district. Morgan Coal and Oil, Inc. of
200 Morgan Avenue in Brooklyn is charged with
Grand Larceny in the Third Degree. In addition,
the District Attorney's Office has seized the oil
deliveries truck used in the short deliveries.
According to Dillon, "Morgan Coal and Oil,
Inc. had a contract to deliver fuel oil to the ten
schools in the Massapequa school district. Last
week, maintenance employees from the district
became suspicious that they were receiving short
deliveries of oil. They contacted the District
Attorney's Commercial Frauds Bureau and the
Consumer Affair's Weights and Measures
Department. The two offices monitored two
deliveries last week and found that the deliveries
were short 600 gallons. "Yesterday," Dillon said,
"we monitored three deliveries and were short
more than a thousand gallons."
The District Attorney said the oil truck was
seized and is now being examined by experts.

Oyster Bay Town Receiver
of Taxes Gary F. Musiello
reminds residents that the
second half of the 1985-86
School Tax Levy is due on
April 1st, but may be paid
through May 10 without
penalty.
"By law, a taxpayer hias a
40-day grace period from
the date the tax is due, during
which time the tax may
be paid without penalty,"
Musiello explained. "After
that 40-day period, a 1%
penalty is attached for each
month the tax remains
unpaid reverting back to the
due.date, which, in this case,
is April ist."
Residents can pay in person
at the Tax Office, Oyster
Bay Town Hall West, Audrey
Avenue, Oyster Bay, and
at Town Hall South, 799
Hicksville Road, Massapequa,
or they can pay by mail.
When paying in person, residents
should bring the
entire tax bill. Those paying
by mail sliould detach and
enclose Stub #2 with the
payment. Musiello noted
that taxpayers should leave
a few extra days for mail
delivery to avoid any late
penalty.
Residents are asked not to
write on, or deface in any
way, the stub as it can cause
rejection of the payment by
the computer.

Bethpage Commemorates
Armenian Genocide
Armenians from throughout Long Island will participate
in the Commemoration of the 71st Anniversary of the
Armenian Genocide when they gather in Times Square at
43rd Street and Broadway on Sunday, April 20, from 1:30 to
3:30 P. M. They will be joined by legislators, civic leaders and
Armenians from throughout the New York/New Jersey/-
Long Island metropolitan area, and from as far away as
Washington, DC and Boston.
They will come together on April 20 to commemorate the
1.5 million Armenian meri, women and children who were
killed by the Turkish Ottoman Empire in a genocide that
began in 1915. They will also honor the "survivors" of this
tragic event, many of whom live on Long Island.
Thomas Grigorian, 89, of Bethpage, was born in Diar-bekir,
Turkey, in 1897. Forty-seven members of his family,
including his parents, were murdered by the Turks in their
rampage to destroy the entire Armenian community in this
first Genocide in the 20th century. He was the only member
of his family to survive this tragic event. He survived the long
and terrible forced march through the desert, without food
or water. During this time, Armenians were dragged from
their homes, slaughtered by the thousands, with thousands
of others forced to endure the long marches across the
desert, most dying along the way. Grigorian came to the
United States in 1972 after living in Iran and in Lebanon.^
