The Saint Martin of Tours Carnival which was held on 5/19/89 througl^
5/28/89 turned out to be an even larger success than anyone had anticipated^
Much thanks should be given to all those sponsors and participants whcj
helped to make the Carnival both enjoyable and successful. Norstar Banki
in Bethpage should be congratulated as their sponsored ride, the "Flying Bobbsi

A seven year old Levittown boy has
been clinically diagnosed with possible
meningococcal meningitis.
Due to the fact that he had been
put on medication a few days prior
to his symptoms, test results to
confirm may not be possible.
As a result, the Health Department
is issuing an advisory that children
who swam in the Blue Grass Pool
Arson Suspected
at Division Avenue l-l
Arson Squad Det. Thomas Gulia
reports the details of a suspicious fire
that occurred at the Division Avenue
H.S., Levittown on August 2, 1989
at about 12:30 AM.
The fire is believed to have started
in a van inside the auto shop and spred
to the rest of the shop and hallway.
Damage was moderate, caused by
water and smoke.

(Aug. 5 and 6) consult with their
physician concerning preventive
medication.
All other close contacts of the youth
have been notified.
The seven year old is at Nassau
County Medical Center and his
condition is listed as stable.
Chief Ruchon of the Levittown
F.D. responded with 5 trucks and 50
fire fighters. They took about half an
hour to extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported and the
investigation is continuing by Fire
Investigator Schwietzer of the Fire
Marshall's Office and Det. Tom GuUa
of the Arson Squad.
Learn To Juggle at Old
Bethpage Village Restoration
Come to learn how to juggle at Old
Bethpage Village Restoration on
Saturday, August 26 from 2 to 4 PM.
Master jugglers from the Juggler's
Guild will be on hand to teach all
interested visitors of all ages the tricks
of the trade so they can enter the
juggling competition at this fall's Long
Island Fair.
County Executive Thomas S.
Gulotta announced that the Long
Island Fair will again take place
during the Columbus Day weekend,
October 6,7,8 and 9 from 10 AM to
5 PM, and "The Great Long Island
Fair Juggling Phenomenon" will be
the special event this year. Four
professional jugglers will entertain
throughout the run of the Fair and
a contest for amateurs will take place
each afternoon.
The Long Island Fair has been held
continuously since 1842 when it was
called the (Queens County Fair. It is
a truly authentic country fair with
animals, produce, horticulture and
craft exhibits, as well as old-fashioned
family entertainment such as puppet
shows, band music, camel and elephant
rides and a petting oo. The Fair
is sponsored by the Queens, Nassau
and Suffolk County Agricultural
Societies.
Old Bethpage Village Restoration
is operated by the Museum Services
Division of the Nassau County
Department of Recreation and Parks.
It is located on Round Swamp Road
in Old Bethpage, one mile south of
the Long Island F:xpressway, exit 48.
The Village is open six days a week
from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. and is closed
on Mondays, except for Labor Day
and Columbus Day. Admission to the
historical village ends one hour prior
to closing. A cafeteria, museum shop
and picnic area are located on the
premises. Admission to the Village is
S4.00, $3.00 for Nassau residents and
$2.00 for children, ages 5-17 and
Senior Citiens ages 60 and over.
Parking is free.

On Saturday August 6,1989 at approximately 12:05 AM a serious accident
9ccurred on Stewart Ave. and Mead Avenue, in Bethpage involving ar
iutomobile and a motorcycle. The motorcycle driven by Edward Lyndon,
26 of 8 John Street, Plainview and his passenger Kathy Curley, 25 of 2*
Linda Lane in Babylon collided with an automobile driven by Anna Milo
18 of 200 7th Street, Bethpage and her passenger Debbie Johnson, 15 alsc
from Bethpage.
The motorcycle passengers were taken to Nassau County Medical Centei
and treated for stpck and various bruises and lacerations while Milo and
Johnson were taken to Central General and treated for an eye injury and
a wrist injury resp^tively.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks although no arrests wer^|
made. >
Along with the Nassau County Police Dept., Unit 312 of the Auxiliar||^
Police, assisted at the scene of the accident. Those assisting were Michae
Cappuccilli, William Faulk, Rita Rusch and Gregory Young.
