CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
INSTALLATION OF MEMBERS
Bethpage Chamber of Commerce Installs Over Sixty Members
On Monday, May 21 the Bethpage
Chamber of Commerce installed 60
Bethpage merchants as Charter
Members into the newK tormed
Chamber ol Commerce. I he
Chamber which was the biainstorm
oi Dennis Brady and (iary Breiion
truly kicked off to quite an unpressi\e
start as the turnout for Monda\>, esent
was phenominal. fown Super\isor
Angelo Delhgaati and lovui of Hempstead
Town Clerk DanieJ Fisher were
on hand to congratulate and encourage
the Chamber as well as to distribute
membership certificates and
American Flags.
Dennis and Gary had been discussing
a Chamber of Commerce for quite
some time and in April of this year
their dream became a reality. "We
wanted to unite the businessmen atid
merchants in this town to all work
together and help each other" said
Bretton. "It is so important to support
one another and also to help the town
of Bethpage" added Brady.
Since its inception , virtually one
month ago, the Chamber has already
set its sights on many goals and
problems which they intend to deal
with. To date they have donated funds
to the Bethpage High School Marine
Physical Fitness Team, volunteered to
serve refreshments and cookies to
parade marchers and spectators on
Memorial Day, and have been actively
trying to solve the problems Bethpage
has in regards to vandalism as well
as garbage disposal.
The one goal that the Chamber took
on as part of its installaton of members
was to try and insure that on Memorial
Day flags would be flymg along
Broadway, Stewart Avenue, Central
Avenue. Wanlagh Avenue and as far
as Hempstead Turnpike...and what
belter way to insure this than to
provide each chamber member with
an American Flag as part of thier
membership fee. Si.xiy plus members
were installed and sixty plus American
Flags will be flying on Memorial Day
to honor all those who ga\e their lives
for this country.
