VOL. 24 NO. 9 Celebrating Our 24th Year January 24-February 1, 1991 Celebrating Our 24th Year 25 CENTS
TOWN OF OYSTER BA Y
STAHDSBEHm OUR TROOPS
We want our neighbors, friends and
loved ones serving in the Persian Gulf
to know that their hometown of
Oyster Bay is immensely proud of
them and that our thoughts, our hearts
and our prayers are with them," said
Town Supervisor Angelo A. Delligatti
in offering special Resolution No. 1 of
1991.
The resolution, which was adopted
at the January 22 meeting of the Town
Board, goes on to extend to the
families of Oyster Bay service personnel
engaged in Operation Desert
Storm, support and kinship and the
fervent hope for the safe return home
of their loved ones.
"Any war is a tragedy," said the
Supervisor, "but my fellow Town
Board members and I believe that,
regardless of personal judgements
about this conflict, all Americans
should now stand fully behind our
President and Congress and, most
especially, our courageous military
personnel in the Persian Gulf."
The Resolution further encourages
all town residents to fly the American
flag at homes and business and to
display the yellow ribbons that
"announce to the world our pride in
our countrymen and women and our
prayerful hope for their safe and
hastened return to us."
Town officials would like to deliver
this message of support to Oyster Bay
service personnel and plan to mail
certified copies of special resolution
No. 1 from Town Hall directly to them
in the Persian Gulf. Families and
friends of Town residents involved in
Operation Desert Storm are invited
to provide names and military
addresses of loved ones to Town
Supervisor Angelo A. Delligatti,
Oyster Bay Town Hall, 54 Audrey
Avenue, Oyster Bay, New York 11771.

NeiMT Contract Earns Money
For Recycled Ne^nrspapers
The Oyster Bay Town Board today
authorized the award of a 5-year
contract that will pay the Town $21
per ton for clean, high quality newspapers
collected through the Town's
S.O.R.T, program, according to
Town Supervisor Angelo A. Delligati.
"We're understandably pleased with
this contract," said the Supervisor, "in
that it marks the first time since the
1989 bottoming-out of the paper
market began that the town will be
receiving revenue for its newspaper."
The most recent price paid to recycle
the town's old newspapers was $41 per
ton.
According to Supervisor Delligatti,
the contract also represents another
important milestone for the town's
recycling program. "This new contract
provides the first ever long-term, fixed
price means of profitably marketing
our newspapers." All prior contracts
for the Town's recycled newspaper
tied plus or minus pricing to a regional
