Uniondale, N.Y., presents the J.W.
Marriott's Presidential Citation, given
in recognition of extraordinary
achievement of Marriott employees,
to loss prevention officers Morgan
McMahon (center) and David Ailing
(right). The employees were honored
because of their heroic service in
saving the life of a hotel guest.
After a Long Island Marriott guest
did not respond to a wake-up call,
McMahon, a resident of Bethpage,
and David Ailing of East Meadow,
responded immediately to the situation
by proceeding to the guest's room.
It is standard policy for the Marriott's
loss prevention ojficcrs to invesiiualc
when a guest does not answer a wake-up
call. After knocking on the dt)or
repeatedly, McMahon and Ailing
broke down the door to find the guest
was suffering from convulsions.
According to paramedics at tiie scene,
had McMahon and Ailing not turned
the guest over on his side, he might
have choked to death,
Senior Citizen
Program Approved
by Board of
Supervisors
Hempstead Town Presiding Supervisor
Joseph N. Mondcllo, announced
today that the Nassau County Board
of Supervisors has approved a resolution
authorizing the County I'.xec-utive
to execute a grant application
with the New York Stale Oirice for
Aging for continuation of the Recreation
for the Elderly Program.
According to Presiding Supervisor
Mondello, Vice Chairman of the
Board,"Funding for this program will'
be used to increase and upgrade senior
citizen clubs, centers, nutrition sites.
group activity programs and programs
for individual."
"By authorizing the County Executive
to execute this grant' Nassau
County will receive $113,347 from
New York Stale and the county will
makea in-kind contribution of
$113,347, making total program
funding $226,694 for the period of
January I, 1991 to December 31,
1991," noted Mondello.
Supporting programs which
enhance the lives of the senior cui/ens
of this county is of the utmost
importance to every member tjf the
Board of Supervisors," noted Oyster
Bay 1 own Supervisor Angelo A,
Delligatti. "Na.ssau County is a great
place lo live and raise a tamily mainly
due to the input the .senior citi/cns
have had in the development and
prosperity of the County. It is,
therefore, incumbent o{ the county lo
provide for ihe needs oi the semor
program."
