JOHN SOMMI RETIRES
The entire community of Bethpage salutes the efforts of retiring
Superintendent of Schools, John B. Sommi, who has been Superintendent
since 1978 and has been of immeasurable service to Bethpage Schoojs.
It is through his efforts, leadership and principles that Bethpage Schools
have become the envy of many communities as well as one of the finest
Districts for students to receive their education.
Big Changes for High School's
Little Theatre

Pictured above is the new ''Little Theatre" at Bethpage High School which
was totally renovated and used for the first time at Tuesday, June 25 Board
of Education meeting. Although finishing touches are still needed the bulk
of the renovation has been completed and the Theatre is now being used.
NIGHT Last night, June 26 the Bethpage
High School Student Council held
their first Community Recognition
Night in the newly renovated Little
Theatre at the High School. This
Night of Recognition was spearheaded
by teacher John Rager and
Student Council President Craig
Fellalian to salute those individuals
who have made a positive difference
in the community and who have
served as role models to the students
of Bethpage High School.
The evening started with welcoming
remarks by Craig Tellalian and also
Dr. Antoinnette MacLeod's Princi-paFs
Address. Dr. MacLeod saluted
Bethpage which she called hamlet
comprised of many local heroes. A
review of the 1990-91 activities of the
Student Council were then given,
which was perhaps the busiest year
any Student Council has ever had,
holding over 25 activities.
Special Awards were then given out
to six outstanding individuals for their
continued service to BHS and the
Student Council. They were Ihomas
Hance, Dads Club President; Thomas
Frost, Bethpage P.A.L. President;
Gary Bretton; Betty Tellalian; Maier-ita
Marino; and Hal Resnick. 18 year
member of the Board of Education,
all six honorees received plaques
thanking them for their contributions
to the success of the Student Council.
Certificates of Merit were then
given to the following individuals
whose services played a valuable pan
in manv programs and functions held
in 1990-91.
