In honor of the 275th anniversary celebration in Farmingdale, artist Mildred
Landau (right) painted two oil paintings of scenes at the Thomas Powell Home
(built 1700) and presented them to Village Historian, Caroline Klesh (left) at the
Gallery of Homes, Conklin Street, Farmingdale last Wednesday night. The painting
on the left is of a recent snow scene of the pond and carriage house and cottage
during the summer at night with moonlight.
KENNEY KIDS: Two students of Plainview Kennedy High School are caught in
their act bv Oyster Bay Town Councilman Warren M. Doolittle and Mrs. George
Smith, president of the Fork Lane P.T.A. during a break in a performance of
"Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" by the Town's Teen Repertory Theatre. The two
youngsters are Sandy Lane, left, and Virginia Ann Frederick. Sandy, who plays
Princess Badroulabadour, and Virginia, who is featured as Sfeh»*™*°>™nnl
seen on Saturday, March 13, when the troupe appears at Plainview High School in a

Anthony Sarno Honored
Anthony H. Sarno (1.) of Levittown, Associate
Professor of Mathematics at St. John's University,
receives the President's Medal from Very Rev. Joseph
T. Cahill, CM., president of St. John's University.
Professor Sarno received the award, which is reserved
for the recognition of outstanding and distinguished
service to St. John's at a special University convocation
held on campus January 28 celebrating the
opening of St. John's Second Century. Professor Sarno
has been a member of St. John's faculty since 1946 and
through the years has held several key administrative
posts at St. John's. He is also Past President of the
Island Trees School Board.
Jack Freeman, Supervisor of the Sanitation Department
of the Town of Oyster Bay, explained the details
of the Department to an over crowded meeting of the
Bethpage Republican Club, Going over the rules of the
