Ginsberg Examines
Doctor Shortage
State Assemblyman Martin
Ginsberg (R. Plainview) has
called upon the medical
profession to come to the
forefront in seeking solutions to
end New York State's growing
doctor shortage.
In an address at the annual
convention of the New York State
Medical Society, in Manhattan,
Ginsberg, who is Chairman of the
Assembly Health Committee,
asked the doctors to consider the
I merits of shortening the medical
students, curriculum, from the
present 8 years to 6 years and
establishing evening enrollment .

"The / medical profession
should be in the forefront of
change in establishing new
policies to meet our own doctor
shortage and a national shortage
of an estimated 50 thousand
doctors," Ginsberg stated.
The Plainview lawmaker, who
has been meeting the deans of
New York's 11 medical schools to
discuss problems of financing
and enrollment procedure, said
he planned to introduce
legislation this year calling-for
increased state assistance to both
the medical schools as well asto*3v
prospective students. \
Data-Gathering Meeting
Supervisor John W. Burke
today announced that the Town's
Planning Advisory Board has
scheduled another of its "date-gathering
community meetings"
with representatives of local
communities across the Town to
develop information as part of
the process to develop a Town
master plan.
Burke said the second in a
series of meetings for the community
representatives of Beth-page,
Plainview and Old Beth-page
will be held Thursday
evening, February 25, at 8 PM in
the Mid-Island Hospital, Hempstead
Turnpike, Bethpage.
Burke pointed out that the
• thrust of these meetings is in-
|' formation-gathering from the
community so that the
professional planners and the
Advisory Board "will gain the
benefit of community leadership
thinking!"
Burke said notices of the
meetings have been forwarded to
all community organizations. He
added that any community group
that has not received a notice and
wishes to participate in these
sessions is requested to write to
the Town of Oyster Bay Planning
Advisory Board in care of the
Supervisor's Office, Town Hall,
Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, New
York 11771.
ERIC BREEMAN: Eric, a 16-year-old senior at
Plainedge High School, plays the role of The Magician
in "Aladdin and the M a g i c . I p ^ f l i l l ^ w l i i ^
Oyster Bay's Teen Repertory Theatre is performing in
elementary schools throughout the Town. Eric, who
plays a variety of musical instruments and is a
member and featured singer in folk and rock groups, is
one of eight teens who have won scholarships from the
Town's Department of Recreation to study with the
Teen Repertory troupe.
Bethpage Republican Club presented it's award of the
year this month to Mr. and Mrs. Mullen and Mr. and
Mrs. Schimoller. Pictured above Thomas and Florence
Mullen and Thomas and Patricia Schimoller receiving

monthly meeting 8:30 P.M. March 8.
