Bethpage Letter Carrier
Honored for Heroism
In late January, Bethpage letter carrier Nikita Brockington was
delivering her route when she approached the residence of an elderly person
and noticed two days of mail in the mailbox. Nikita went to the house and
upon knocking on the door heard a man yelling that he could not come to
the door. Nikita knew the man was in distress and notified the local police
department who came to the home and entered the premises to find the man
on the floor in need of medical attention. He was brought to New Island
hospital where he is received the medical attention he needed.
For her quick actions Nikita received a Postmaster General Hero
commendation letter and a Special Achievement Award and plaque from
Bethpage Postmaster John Statkevicus.
Congratulations to letter carrier Brockington, who is indeed, a true
credit to her community and a wonderful role model. Her kind and caring
actions make her a true "Bethpage HERO!
