campaign raises funds
for three Long Island nonprofit
agencies providing services to
children with disabilities
King Kullen Grocery Co., Inc.
(Bethpage, NY) recently concluded an in-store
fundraising campaign that raised
$9,900 to benefit three organizations that
provide important services to children with
disabilities. The funds raised by "Brighter
Future for Children with Disabilities" were
distributed equally among: Abilities! in
Albertson, NY; the Association for the
Help of Retarded Children
(AHRC)/Nassau County in Brookville,
NY; and the Association for the Help of
Retarded Children (AHRC)/Suffolk
County in Bohemia, NY.
King Kullen Co-Presidents Brian C.
Cullen and J. Donald Kennedy met recent-ly
with representatives of the charitable
organizations for a check presentation of
$3,300 to each. "Even in these rough eco-nomic
times, our customers have once
again demonstrated their generous support
of local organizations that work to help
ensure brighter futures for children with
disabilities," stated Cullen. "We are grati-fied
and honored by the response of King
Kullen's loyal customers." The "Brighter
Future for Children with Disabilities"
campaign is an annual King Kullen pro-gram.
Among the representatives who met
with King Kullen at the Bethpage head-quarters
were Abilities! Development
Associate Susie Quinn and Coordinator of
Special Projects liana Isaacson; Nassau
AHRC First Vice President Howard Jurist;
and Suffolk AHRC Director of
Development J. Andreassi.

King Kullen Grocery Company, Inc. is
recognized by the Smithsonian Institution
as America's first supermarket. Founded
in 1930 by Michael J. Cullen, King Kullen
today employs more than 4,200 people and
operates 46 supermarkets throughout Long
