Now let's look at some of the so-called issues. The ahovc
printed picture .shows former Mayor Hoherl I-. Doxsie, who
lunv serves, as Village Clerk of Freeport. standint' with
hip-boots nearly up lo his knees in Water hi thail property
area which the \'illage Parly alkihpted lo ii-se jis a eaiii-paigii
i.ssne.
They claimed thai this "choice," "walerfroiit" properly
was jKirt t>f a |)olilical deal.
Does this look like prime prsi|»ertv? Kxperts e.stiinnlid
tliat more Ihan $11H),IMMMM> worth of fill Nvoiild he needed
lo make it marketable. They also .stale that it's a .'j-acre
parcel. ,\clually it was about 2Yi acres of marshlami, which

property not duly adverfised for sale in Iwo leading newspapers
of the community, including the Village Party's o« u
"officiaily en<loi-sed" I^ 1. Kernel? .
Did not reputable buil«lei-s subiuil bids for the purchase
of this property and were not these bids jjublicly ci|)eiictl IUKI
evaluated?
Was not the/properly sold lo" the highest bidder in accordance
with all legal requirefftenls?
These arcj the basic facts about this big issue upon
which the Village Party seeks election!
Let's f^ifget such* baseless charges as discrlminution
against rac^, religion or color. These ore but amateurish at-leiiipfi
wiiich will not fool any intelligent voter. Unfortu-r.
ately Ijiey do appear on all levels including national, state
and county elections.
Let's look at another so-called reason whj* they claim
Bill (Jlacken should not be re-elected.
The Village Party complains about the apartment'
hpuses which have been constructed in the village during
p c past ten years. Let's forget that these structures have
made it possible lo maintain a low-tax rate to Individual
home-owners. Lei's forget that these apartments have become
homes to many elderly Ereeportcrs whose eliildren
have grown and married and whose original homes were too
huge for just the parents.
But let us not forget that Ihough Bill Glacken's opposition
complains about apartment houses, its own John Mack,
who was president of the Village Party, attempted to sell ~
