High School Graduation Exercises for
Class of 196 i at Stadium Sunday, June 25
The second largest Senior Class In the history of JVeeport High
.School win he graduated In colorful exejsises to be held In the Municipal
Stadium on Sunday, "Jane 2Sth at 5:00 FM. Boartl of Education President

class which lias established an enviable scholasUc record.
Top student In this year's June
graduating class is Lawrence Mintz,
whoe four year high school average
of 95.03% earned htai the Valedictory
honors. Extremely close to
the coveted number one scholastic
ranking is Barbara Baehr, who won
second place as Salutatorlan with
an average of 95.00%.
The keenness of the competition
•for seholasUo honors among Sf;n-lors
t.o be graduated on June 25th,
1961 is lUustiwted by the fact that
there is a spread 6t only .67% between
first place and fourth. Jane
Erwin, with an average of 94^4%,
and Donaid Griffiths, with 94J5%.

Justice Marcus Christ Gives Oath
Of Office to Former President of
Nassau County Legal Aid Society
Charles P, Buckley, Jr., prominent attorney and a life-long native
of Baldwin, with offices in Preeport, was Installed as President of the
Nassau County Bar Association by Judge Marcus Christ of t h e Appellate
Division, 2nd Part, of the Supreme Court.
The affair was held on itonday, June 19, in the Nassau County

ARTHUR L HODGES SPEARS TO
REEPORT HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Arthur L. Hodges, former editor of The Lender and president ol
the Nassau County Historical Society, addressed the new Preeport
Historical Society at a meeting held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock In
Doctors Hospital About 40 members and guests attended the meeting.
Mr. Hodges recalled the important role Preeport has played In
Nassau County since Its inception
in 1899. He polnled out that George
Wallace, a Preeport resident, Introduced
the bill that created Nassau
County, that his son, Archer
B. Wallace suggested Nassau as the
name for the new County and that
three residents of Preeport have
served on the Board of Supervisors.
The three men were Smith Cox,
Hlam B. Smith and Robert G. Anderson.
Mr. Hodges also pointed out that
in addition to George Wallace another
