Urban Renewal stating their objection to the recent appointment of
Stanley J. Roth as the Freepoit Director of Urban Renewal.

Freepart recently applied for
and received a federal jgrant for
the preparation of a Master Plan

Grant was $76,275.

for applications for the position
was printed in THE .LEADER on
May 21, J964. It is reported that
there were nine applicants.
In the letter, to the Federal Director.
Trustees Fairbcrg and
Musso outlined their objections
which included the fact that Mr,
•Roth has been active and one of
tlio principals and officers of tlic
Village Party and that they, the
trustees, do not believe that politics
should be involved. They also
objected *o his being a Main
Street merchant and the fact that
his sportswear and dress shop is
in' th carea posibly to be effected
by the" plan.
They also staled that they did
not believe Ihat.M-. Both'i background
contained outstanding
qualiflcalions relative to this
position.
Mayor Swecrtey and Trustee
Akengarten stated that they had
closely reviewed all the applica-tiona
and had selected Mr. Roth
without any thought of politicid
patronage but based on the fact
that they believed hina to be the
best qualified from an all-aroimd
viewpoint.

The picnic will be held from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Area X, near

Like last year's countywide
picnic, first for the Domocra,tic
organization, this year's outing
will be free of charge.
It will feature games, contests

outdoor food and beverage and
will be attended by local party
officials and candidates, headed
by County Executive Eugene H.
Nickerson.
