He came home earlier than expected; in a grey casket virlth an
American fla^ covering his last resting place, Alan was my brothef s
iecond atfo, and everything should not stop there—at the cemetery.
A man who gave hia life in' service to his country deserved a
Eulogy in printJiPerhaps the printed words will last lor many years
longer than we will; this then la hts Siulogy,
Alan's-birthplace,! 21 years ago, was a small village in the north-cm
portion of New York. He grew up with all the feais. teaiB and
laughter of-youth—^nd like most of youth today, he was vital 'a)id
vlgorouff-and aliVe with all the gifts of life.
While his physical growth was ahnost completed, his years werft
tender and hegot himself into trouble. The shock oj realization made
