Teacher Talks
Deadlocked
In an effort to break the deadlock in the negotiations
between the Teachers Association and t he School District.
Mr. Jonas Silver, the fact-finder appointed by PERB. has
scheduled a meeting of both parties for 5.00 P.M. Tuesday
in the admini<itration building.
Mr Silver's attempt to resume the talks follows a walkout

Village Officials Hear Levy
Forty three public officials
including Village Mayors and
their representatives appeared at
a Senate hearmg conducted by
Slate Senator Norman J Levy s R
Long Beach I. Qiairman of the
New York State Senate Standing
Committee on Villages
Representing Freeport were
deputy Mayor William White.
Treasurer Leonard Smith and
Village Clerk Thomas DeVin-cenzo.
Senator Levy said. "This
hearing, held at the Lynbrook
Village Hall, Lynbrook, NY. was
the first of nine to be held
throughout the State The
primary purpose of the Lynbrook
and future hearings is to review
the existing inequity under the
present revenue sharing formula
which provides additional Stale
revenue sharing to all cities and
excludes all villaj^es from this
revenue .sharmg '
Senator Levy continued. "This
additional Stale revenue sharmg
IS known colloquaily as special
city aid and provides cities with
substantial additional slate aid
(or supplymg the same or less
services than comparable
villages which are not paid
under this formula "
