Realtors License Revoked
New York Secretary of State
John P. Lomenzo has announced
I he revocation of the licenses of a
lAmg Island real estate broker
and two of his salesmen after
having been found guilty of fraud
and fraudulent practices in obtaining
an FHA-insured mortgage
for a one-family house in
Hempstead, L.I.
The revocations, Lomenzo
said, are part of a continuing
crackdown by the New York
Department of State on
fraudulent practices by licensed
real estate brokers inyolving
applications for mortgages for
small homes by the Federal
Housing Administration.
After a hearing Lomenzo
directed that the licenses be
revoked, effective March 10,
next, of Dennis Rappaport,
representative broker of the 4410
Fourth Avenue Realty Corp. of
W2.. South Franklin Street,
Hempstead, and the ^5-Ql Fifth
Avenue Realty Corp. of 225^1
Linden Blvd., Cambria Heights,
Queens.
The revocation order also
(affected the licenses of two of
' Rappaport's real estate
^satesmen, David Brendei of itns
Sheepshead Bay Road, Brooklyn,
and Samuel Glass of 54-40 Little
Neck Parkway, Little Neck.
The complaint involved an
•alleged concealment by the
respondents of their lijzense
.status when they engaged in a
scheme to purchase a one-family
house at 112 Harvard St.,
Hempstead, which had been
listed with them for sale at a low '
price of $16.(KM.
It was charged that Mr. Glass,
without disclosing that he was
employed by the Rappaport
brokerage as a licensed real
«iiale salesman, contracted to
purchase the Harvard St. house
for $16,000 when in fact he had
another purchaser waiting to.
purchase the property for $^.000,
Testimony at the hearing
further disclosed that Mr.
Brendei, also a licensed real
testate salesman, signed a con-<
tract with Mr. Glass for $23,000
and then used the contract as a
device to obtain an FHA mortgage
for $2L500, out of which the
original owner, Texas U. Connor
received $16,000, Mr. 'Glass
neceived $5,500 and Mr. Brendd
obtained title to the premises fa*
income purposes.
