Mayoralty Candidate William
H.White, addressing an overflow
crowd of ^ilage Parly
Representatives at Headquarters
last Friday .evening, stated that
the Village^rty team of Bill
White, -Ralph Franco. Berkeley
Swezey and Judge Preedman was •
a team put together by a Nominating
Committee and duly elected
at a January Convention that
allowed open nominations from
the f loor^and was attended.by over
160 members. He also noted that
every officer of the VP Executive
Board who was electedWhis past
December is still servmg. Con-
,trast this with the revolving door
jwlicies of the two other political
parties. -
"Sure," he said, "we admit to
some changes in the Village
Party Platform since twelve
, years ago. But what hasn't
changed in that span of time? A
platform is meant to be a guide
and we now have the best
platform that will maintain a
proper^ ,, balance, between
residential^- dwellings -= and
apartnient houses."- 1 _
White also mentioned th^
administration is being criticized
for not promoting employees
from within the raid(s at Village
HalL He said, "our policy has
been to obtain the best qualified
personnel to run Preeport's
municipal government. Lou
Bello, Supt. of Buildings, was
[ricked from the outside and look
what a tremendous job he has
been doUig. Ed Prefer, Supt. of
Public Works, is another outsider
and look at the sidistantlal increase
in productivity he has
achieved within such a short
time. Stan Brekne, Recreation
Director, was not from within our
ranks but hundreds of parents
have congratulated the Village on
our comprehensive recreation

In a momentous decision, the

court rejected all of the Suburban

Village Clerk had acted improperly
in determiningposilloris

dismissing the Suburban Parly's
action-was handed down by
Nassau County Supreme Court.
Village Clerk " Thomas
.DeVIncenzo said he had been
confident the court would uphold
his decision that the incumbent
Village Parly belongs on Row A.
(Under State law the Village
Clerk is the, officer in charge of
Village elections, rather than the
County Board of Elections.)
