- FREEPORT - After a year on austerity, Freeport School District
voters went to the polls and aijaln defeated a school budget proposal.
A total of.1.945 residents voted against the proposed 1977-78 budget,
while 1,587 voted "yes." School Board Prosldent Harold Lavlne
told THE LEADER, following the vote. "The Board will meet Wednes^
