Fire Alarm Boxes In Residehtiat

-FREEPORT-A request by the village's Fire^ Department to have
most fire alarm boxes removed from residential areas v^as unanimdusly" -
agreed toiby the Freeport Board of Trustees at their Monday night
meeting. August 14. The three members present -— Mayor William
• -• White and Trustees Tom Lovclidge and Wayne Jordan — approved the

been made in the brutal beating,
knife-point robbery that occurcd"
Woinesday, August 9, at a Grove
Street stationery store.
The incident first became
known through a phone report
from what police describe as "an
excited female," a report that
sent Police Officer Locke to 47

blonde curly hair entered the

By the time Locke arrived, the

FREEPORT - At a special public meeting held last Monday night,
August 14, the Freeport Board of Education set the school tax rate for
1978-79 at $17.89 per $100 of assessed valuaUon. The $17.89 figure Is a
10< increase over the .928f tax rate approved by voters June 20. The
additional 10< does not reflect any change in the budget which, passed
