FREEPORT - After a neuir three boar pobBc beaiing, the Village
Board of Trustees, Monday night (April 23) voted munimoosly to sell
13.2 acres of moslcipally • owned land to the developer of a Two Gavs
discount department store. The agreed apon price, approved by the
Federal agency HUD. is 51,083.780. The land b bounded by Sunrise
Highway on the north and Merridc road on the sooth, and lies between
liberty and South Columbus Avenues, close to the Meadowbrook
Parkway.

FREEPORT - Opening Day
ceremonies at Glacken Park will
precede the first games of the
Freeport little League's 1979
season this coming Saturday,
April 28. The day's events are
scheduled to begin at 10 am at the
park, located at South Brookside
Avenue and Sunrise Highway. A
Sunday, April 29. rain date has
been set aside in case of inclement
weather.
As the ceremonies open. Little
League players will assemble on

FREEPORT • A96t tax increase is projected in the proposed 1979-
1980 school budget released this week by the Freepott Board of Education.
The 522.352,108 toul budget is 51,461.110 more than the one
presently in fonx In the district. Estimated revenues however will be
increasing only 5690.700. according to the figures in the lincby-linc
budget booklet which Is presently available to the public at school
district offices on West Seaman Avenue.

As of April 1.1979 the district's
assessed valuation of taxable
property was Figured as
581.403.419. The present school
tax is 517.891 per 5100 asessed
valuation, the 96t increase, would,
bring the school tax to 518.$^.
The increase; in slniple terms,
would (hean that the-owner of
-propertyi in the Freeport School
Distria. assessed at 57.0(X) would
pay an annual school tax of
51.319.50,567.20 more than he is
paying now.
Major increases In. the proposed
budget are in the lines of
"Instructional Staff' and "Instructional
Support Staff." The
former increases 5553,293; the
latter shows 5154,666 more on the
proposed budget- line that the
present one. The district will be in
the third year of a three year con-'
tract with its employees.
