Scheduled For Sat, June 2
FREEPORT • The third In a nationwide, se\'ch race circuit will be
. held in this area Saturday. June 2, when more than 50 po^^-cr boats arc
expected to compete in the Guy Lothbardo/Halter Classic. The event.
named after the village's late "Mr. Freeport" and its prime sponsor,
Halter Company of New Orleans, was first run last year with race head-
Quarters at the Guv Lombardo Marina. The town marina will again be
the spot from which the crafts will
depart to the starting line in
Jones Inlet, the site of the open-to-
thc-public hot wire room, the
beginning place of the parade of
• craft, and the area to which- the
public is Invited to view the racing
boats.

the ' marina . at 9i30 am. The
approximate 'three hour raw
onicially starts'at 10 am audit, is
estimated that the winnen will be
back in the marina about 12:30
pm.
The race course extends over
179 miles from Abrose Light to
Fire Island. The three person
crews of the powerful machines
will have to maneuver a course '
which loops three times near the
