ROSES, a jolly Sanfa Claus was visited by more than 1,000 children at
the Holiday Festival, co-sponsored by the Freeport Recreation Department
and the Freeport Chamber of Commerce, at the Recreation
Center on December 2. Sanfa (Al Gordon, owner of the Right Track
•Inn) and Mrs. l^erry Christmas (Linda Bracco) flreet one of their,
younger admirers. The children each received a bag of goodies^nd a
balloon. Some 1,500 adults and youngsters enjoyed the all^ay event
which included free ice skating and entertainment by the Long Island
Vasa Folkdancers. Chairman for the Chamber of Commerce event.
Donald Panliria, termed the day. "a great success" with promises to
repeat the Chambers'/'hollday gilt to the children of the village" next

Freeport Police Officers Make Speedy Arrests
FREEPORT - This viHajje Police Dqjartmcnt's own version of
Starsky and Hutch, a special plain-clothes unit put en the streets co
combat the increase in crimes felt in all of long Island's communities,
have come up with several swift arrests recently,

Salary Hikes
FREEPORT - A 10% increase
in the salaries of the village
Mayor and trustees has been
written into the tentative village
budget for 1980-81. The hike,
whicn would bring the Mayor's
salary to $10,450 per annum and
the trustees to $5,500 each, was
agreed upon by four of the five at
a budget workshop session held
Monday c>-ening. December 3.
Trustee Al Siriin was not present.
The entire 1980-81 village budget,
which is still in an early stage
and does not yet have a Tinal
figure, will be'the subject of a

to Lydia E. Hall Hospital has been
approved by the village"s Zoning
Board of Appeals.
At their reeular monthly
meeting held Wednesday. No-
