NEW YORK STATE IS HIS. Jo Cona, the Freeport Chamber of Commerce's
first woman president, presents the Chamber's 1981 Citizen,
of the Year award to Senator Al D'Amato, the first New York State
Senator elected from Nassau County. D'Amato's plaque was cut Into
the shape of the state. D'Amato was guest of honor at the Chamber's
annual Installation Dinner/Dance held Saturday night, March 28,
at Salty Bay Yacht Club. 'Jo C^ona, who with her husband Frank started
a wholesale/retail fish business six years ago on Woodcleft Avenue,
was in turn installed by Senator D'Amato. (See story of Chamber

Village of Freeport Board of
Trustees will be held next Monday,
April 6, at 8 pm, at Village
Hall.
The meeting-wilL.begin with
Mayor William White, Trustees
Al&ed Sirlin and Dorothy Storm,
and Village Justice Ralph Franco
taking the Oath of Office. The
four were re-elected to their
positions in the March 17th
, village election.
The Board of Trtislees will
then appoint various department
heads and .members of the
Village's Board's' Commissions
and Committees^
There will be no other business
conducted on April 6. The next
public meeting of the Board will
be on Monday, April tO at 8 pm.

Boulukos Will Run For School
Board; Holly Still Undecided
FREEPORT - While School
Board vice-president George
Boulukos has "definitely"
decided to seek a second term on
the Freeport Board of Education,
board president. Sara Holly's
plans for her third term are not
quite as set.
The two positions on the School
Board will be the subject, along
with the budget vote, of the
school district election to be
lield May 20.
This week, both school board
members discussed.the situation
with THE LEADER. Holly
explained that she had Act yet
decided to seek re-election, but
would by the next week. "1 will
be returning to school early this
spring," she said, "as a full-time
student in computer programming,
and need to evaluate
my schedule, my commitments
and my time."
According to Holly, who has
taken many a trip to Albany to
try to lift the school aid CAP
and who had worked successfully
last year to secure the 51 million
one-time school aid from the
state, "a school board member is
an important job that hasre--
quired a -full-time commitment
from me. 1 would only continue
serving in that position." she
said, "if I was cenain that I
could balance all my future
responsibilities.
Candidates' petitions must
be tiled in the Officii uf tlie
School District by 5 pm, April 20.
Petitions must be signed by at
least 46 qualified voters.
