BALDWm/i^REEPORT - The lights went but this past week in these
two neighboring communities, tet apparently the most crushing loss
was the halt in the Baldwin^ Senior High School concert Thursday
evening. May 19; wiiile the only physical "problem" was a deHveiy
man stock in an elevator Friday afternoon in Freeport. No injuries or
acddents were reported in either
brief langhtet frcra the audiezux^

Band Director Helen Bauer
explained to the andieoce' that
"we know our music, but tiot that

emergency light on the stage

continue pbying. Wlule several
students appeared to be attempt-comraumty.
The "coincidence" — the two
black-oota had different causes
and were on -t*b successive
days — began Thursday evening,
at about 10 pm, in Baldwin.
At Baldwin Seitior I S ^ School,
the Aimua! Spring Concert with
choirs and the 9-10 Prep Band
was bdng held. The auditorium
was.-fin^ with approximately ing to arrange an impromptu
compteted. - when the ligttts
flickered moiientatily, went out,
and the emergency lights immediately
went on.
At first most people assumed
that there was aproblan with the
stage lighting or that a fiise had
blown. Tben, people noticed that
the area outside the auditorium
seemed dark. An older student on
the lighti/ig crew calmly ' announced,
fi^ the balcony, that
there appeared to be a problem-with
as outside transformer

by lightening." Within seconds,
. Principal Peter Lyndi Came to the

an attempt to resdiedule the per- '
