the Freeport Municipal Stadiurh. property have been
received by the Freeport Board of Trustees. At its
Monday evening, February 2nd meeting, the Board referred
the proposals, one of which offers S5 million for

Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention program in
Baldwin.

From March 1. through
7, all segments of the
comitiunity - civic, religious,
' political, educational,
business and the
media - will be united to
demonstrate their commitment
against drug and
alcohol abuse.
The week is sponsored
by the Baldwin Educational
Assembly, in conjunction
with the Baldwin
School District and Baldwin
PTA.
"Hands Across Baldwin"
on Saturday will feature
the—*«jnchhig'>Bf.1,000
balloons' each containing
the week's theme, "Drug
Pree Is The Key." The
balloons will be launched-froni
three different sites
along Grand Avenue.
The event begins at 1
pm and entire families are
urged to join. The' original
February 6th registration
date has been en-tended
to allow greater
participation.

"The recent snowstorms
have demonstrated that, it
is necessary to enforce our
laws. The.large number df
vehicles that remain on
|he roadways during and
after a snowstorm impede
the Department of Piiblic
Works' snow removal operations.
Clogged streets
are an .inconvenience to
everyone and, most importantly,
can seriously
hamper the passage of

for help in stopping a series
of street robberies afid
muggings, in their area. '•

to six weeks.

Trustees reftised to renegotiate.:,

In the first go-round,
the village received three
proposals, ranging from
SI.8 to $2.8 million. All
three-were rejected as not
corhplying with the specifications
outlined in the
invitation for proposals.
Only one of those first
three proposals, the one
from Campi Enterprises,-•
included racing. The
prices - offered . - ranged-^
from SKS fhillion to S2.8
ffliliton.

for both racing and other
entertainment, . or . commercial

prices were set: one, $1.8
million, was for proposals
that featured racing; and
