Vet's Day observances
The traditional Veteran's Day will be ,
celebrated by Frccpon's William
Clinton Story Post 342, American
Legion, on Monday, November 12, at
10:30 a.m., inside the Frccport
Memorial Library.
In attendance will be Freeport public
ofTicials, a guest speaker (to be named),.
and Freeport High School's Choral
Group. Other ceremonies will be
conducted by the Legionnaires of The
William Clinton Sto»y Post. The public
is invited and urged to attend the
ceremonies honoring veterans.
Memorial
On view beginning No\-cmber 7 will
be a replica of the Vietnam Memorial
in Washington, D.C., constructed by the
Freeport Communityof Girl Scouts,
located in the main lobby of the libmry.
All auending Veteran's Day services
can see the memorial in the lobby.

to Frceport's own heroes on Veteran's
Day can view the memorial until
Wednesday. November 21. during
library hours. The memorial was
constructed in honor of Freeport
servicemen who were killed in action
during the Vietnam War. Fifteen
Frecporters tare listed, one of whom is
still missing.
The project was spearheaded by
Dave Anderson, a Vietnam veteran,
who worked right along with the Girl
Scouts during its construction. NUchacl
Mulroy, also a Vietnam veteran and
author of "Peace of the Action" (poems
about the Viemam), was the design
consultant. Without the Support and
encouragement of many Frceporters,
this memorial would not have been
builL
The memorial has been on parade
throughout Long Island during
Memorial Day, Fourth of July and
Armed Forces Day. This is the first
time it will be exhibited at the Frccport
Library. The memorial is over eight
feet long and more than four feet high.
Vet's Day dance
In conjunction with Veteran's Day,
The William Clinton Story Post will
hold their Annual Veteran's Day
Dinner-Dance at the Legion Dugout, 49
West Sunrise Highway, on Saturday,
November 10, from 8 p.m. to 12
midnight.
A donation of S20 per person
includes a full course dinner, open bar
all evening, plus DJ. dance music for
listening and dancing. For tickets and
information, call Charles Jackson at

Fabulous flowers Tilled Freeport's
residesxs inthis year's flower contest
sponsored by Atlantic Nursery and
Garden Shop, Inc. It's our ninth annual
contest during this most beautiful time
oftheyearl .
"I look forward to judging all the
gardens," said Walter Geercken,
Nursery Manager at Atlantic.
The winners of the 1990 Flower
Contest were as follovtrs:..
First place: Mr. and Mis. Ji Wolf of
Branch Avenue won a $100 gift
certificate. Again, a great job with line
anangements bf colorful impatiens on
this corner property. Also salvias and
begonias incorporated. Well taken care
of. Bestindiowl ' V .' -
Second place: Madeline Tucker of
Whaley Street won a. $50 gift
certincate. Beautiful flower planting
ahwiid the borne and perimeter of the
' garden. Well cairied out using a variety
of flowers. Strong on marigolds, roses..
impatiens.. •
Third place: Mr. and Mrs. Peluso of
Meister Boulevard won'a $25 gift
certificate.! The landscaping of this
comer property is relatively young and
has many possibilities for the future.
Fourth Place: Mi-, and Mrs. W.
Dennis of-Park Avenue won a $25 gift
certificau. Impatiens treatment in front
and in between the evergreen
foundation plandngs. Color - bvender.
salmon.etc.

Gabler, Mrs. Linda Jenkins, Mrs. Lisa
Keita, Mrs. Barbara Bell. Mr. and Mrs.
James Daller. Mrs. Tricia Hagliiilo.
