On Saturday, May 22, a Korean War Memorial was held in the Freeport High School Auditorium, presented by many dedicated, interesting men and women who are determined to remember forever the veterans who fought and died in that conflict oyer 50 years ago.
The memorial service was held in
remembrance of seven fc>nner Freeport High School students who made the ultimate- sacrifice for our country during the Korean War. They are: PFC Norbert F. Hotter, USMC; PFC Robert E. McAlUster, USMG; Corporal Clifford H. Craw, U.S.Army; PFC Felix Garland, U.S.Army; PFC Edward C. Koenke, Jr., U.S.Army; Corporal Ronald A. Canfield, U.S.Army; Corporal Wilbur L. Bond, U.S.Army,

"THE COST OF FREEDOM IS ALWAYS HIGH..." Freeporters will remember that cost with their annual Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 31. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the high school; the service will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the monument in front of the library. Guest speaker will be Major Donald Moor, Jr., U.S.M.C. Ret.' Music will be provided by Pam Jusino, the Freeport High School Band and the Atkinson Fifth Grade Chorus. Don't miss this opportunity to themember those who "sacrificed their lives for our freedom."

On Monday, May 31, all units will assemble at 9:30 a.m. at South Brookside Avenue facing west at the high school by respective divisions.
Head of Parade will step off promptly at 10 a.m.
1st Division: S. Brookside Avenue -Veterans - Elected OJEcials, Richard Barry, Edward Martin, Frank P. IngogUa, Coy Richardson
2nd Division: Lexington Avenue - Youth -Adolph Berg, Robert Pachas, David Cockerel, Charles Whitflesey 3rd Division: Pine Street - Adults - Richard Cromwell, Atsu Kefentse, Harold Murray, Lincoln Parsons
4th Division: Porterfield Place - Fire Dept. -Chief John J.Maguire The route of the parade is as follows: South on South Brookside Avenue to Merrick Road, then East to the Freeport Memorial Library. AH' units give "eyes right" at the library. Honored guests. Gold Star Mothers and members of the Daughters of the American Revolution to assemble at Freeport High School at 9:30 A.M. to board vehicles for the start of the parade. Seats will be available for Gold Star Mothers and the Daughters of the American Revolution on the lawn at the Freeport Memorial Library. In the event of inclement weather, the Memorial Day Services are
scheduled to take place in the Freeport High
School auditorium at 10:30 a.m. Notice of
cancellation of the parade will be
