Hillary Clinton wants a change
by Laura Schofer
In a recent inien'iew. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton discussed her hopes to set the countn^ on a new course, exploring options for health care, immigration, and foreign policy, among other issues.
In a roundtable discussion with local journalists. Senator Clinton said that "the administration needs to change its policies. We need to change direction."
Senator Clinton pointed to problems with our health care system, the bmgeon-ing federal deficit and the need for fimd-ing of alternative energies. Overseas, Senator Clinton believes we need to engage hostile nations such as North Korea in a dialogue to solve or reduce conflicts. In taq, the senator hopes to work with other Democrats to re-deploy our troops.
Closer to home. Senator Clinton has a plan to reduce taxes as well as create affordable housing.

Part D and the problem with the doughnut hole. "I think we can do a better job. I voted against this because it is a bait-and-switch program. ^Mi> pay premiums and not ha\e ser\!ces? It's shocking."
Mrs. Clinton added that she is still committed to a national health care program. "We are seeing a lot of problems coming to pass. Our system is deteriorating. Many more people are not insured and businesses are moving out. We not competitive with our health care." she said.
"We are no longer number one when it comes to preventive care although we're still number one in medical technology. We need a cxinsensus between health care providers, businesses and our citizens. What we need is a uniquely American plan."
The Republican administration needs to re-examine its foreign policy with regard to North Korea and Iraq, continued the senator. "The administration
needs to change its policy towards North Korea now that that we know they may be on the brink of nuclear arms. They [administration] say they won't talk to bad people. Well, you don't need to talk to your friends. All through the Cold War we talked to the Soviet Union. We need an international effort with the United Nations. We must change course before this gels out of hand. North Korean leadership is like a teenage gang who are desperate for respect They are immature and wantonly indifferent to their people. It
may be emotionally gratifying to not talk, but it doesn't work to pull out our inspectors. We need to work out a deal with North Korea and help them."
Senator Clinton also wants some kind of international consensus on Iraq: 'The president and vice-president are extremely stubborn, even in the face of reality. We need to bring enormous pressure on the Iraqis - the Sunnis, Kurds and Shites. It takes a strong hand to resolve these problems.
