Santa arrived in Baldwin on schedule. on December 3, sitting high on a shiny, red Baldwin Fire Department truck with horns and whistles blaring through the delightfully brisk, but not cold, winter air.
As usual a large -cohort of chamber members and volunteers worked hard to make the e%ent possible with donations of food h\ local merchants, coordination of entertainment by Mike Fincken of New World Music, the provision of small trinkets for the children by Pat and Diane Lore of Baldwin True Value Hardware, and the e\'er-popular pon>' rides sponsored by Carole and Dick Bellis, Dawson Taxi, and Karen and Michael Rosenstock.
After Santa's arrival- at the count of three, the,beautiful tall spruce trees at the LIRR station, fronting onto Sunrise Highway, were lighted.
On Friday. December 15, the community menorah will be lighted in ceremonies conducted by Rabbi Roben Judd and coordinated by chamber member Howard Gainsburs.

The Christmas creche,, maintained by Doris and'^ Walter Stenzel, was also part^ of the holiday scene peace and holiday joy."
The chamber sponsors the annual holiday^ celebration as one* of its primary, activities and the' event is intended' to help make BaFdwin a"* great place to^ live and do business.
Among the • entertainers were students from New World Music" Center, the Baldwin Middle School Select Chorus, PAL Cheerleaders and the Nassau Dance Theater. Cub Scouts from Pack 179 made ornaments for the tree while members of the Baldwin High School Key Club served as hosts and served refreshments.
The community tree lighting was truly the result of community cooperation.
The Home Rule Party of Freeport last night unanimously nominated incumbent village trustee William H. White, Jr. to seek re-election in the March 2007 elections along with Jorge Martinez, viccTchairman of the Village's Zoning Board of Appeals. Mr. Martinez replaces Trustee Donald Mauersberger on the ticket, who decided not to run for a third term.
"Trustee Mauersberger has been a public official that the Home Rule Party and the community can be proud of," said Connor Kirwan, president of the Home Rule Party. "He has worked tirelessly on behalf of
this village and embodies hard work and practicality in public service. We wish him well and congratulate him on a job well done."
Bill White, a lifelong Freeport resident, was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees in 1998 and was elected to the position in 1999 and re-elected in 2003. He has been an integral part of the administration's ongoing revi-talization in the Village of Freeport. The numerous improvements made in all areas of Freeport since taking office include making Freeport's parks and (continued on page 15)
