II was a perfect midsummer evening at Northeast Park mth a tour-n;imeni t;iking place on the basketball couns, a Little League game on the ball field, people placing tentiis and xcungsters having ftm in the playground.
The National Night Out organization chose Northeast Park as the %-enue for one of the thousands of celebrations it promoted across the countr,-Tuesda\- evening, August 7.
The goal of the National Night Out organization is to provide local communities information on crime prevention and gang awareness. The evo"! inc'v^e^i ^ccJ e"'e''t ••"-
ment and literature aimed at raising aw iireness of gang activity along with guidance to help residents form pannerships with law enforcement agencies.

Continuing Ed registration
Baldwin School District's Continuing Education program will hold walk-in registration for fall classes on Thiirsdav'. September 6. from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Baldwin High School commons. Most classes begin September 17; Thursday classes will start on Se{»ember 27.
New continuing education classes tills fall include Floral Design, Best Freeware on the Web, Microsoft PowerPoint and a series on acupuncnire. For more information, call Continuins Education at 377-9354.

ftivate school students who have not yet been notified by phone or mail may call the textbook office at 377-9317 to confirm their book order is complete and ready.
Wten picking up a completed textbook order, you can enter through the last door at the District Office, 960 Hastings Street, and go to Room 34 between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.. Monday through Thursday, during the week of .Au2ust 27.
