DRESSED IN CAPS AND GOWNS, Freeport High School students who completed their course of study in August file into the auditorium to receive their high school diplomas.
FHS' summer graduates
STUDENTS IN MRS. WEiDENBACH'S class at Meadow School are all smiles on the first day as they discuss sorting their supplies.
With the musical chords of "Pomp and Circumstance" leading the processional, 46 Freeport students in cap and gown took their last steps as high school students and their first steps as Freeport High School graduates.
Proud parents beamed with pride as welcoming and congratulatory remarks were offered by Dr. Eric Eversley, superintendent of schools; Ernest Kight. Freeport High School assistant principal; and Debra McQuillan, president of the Board of Education.
Jacqueline Genesoni, summer school principal, presented the graduating class to the audience while cameras snapped and videos panned, and after all the diplomas were given out, cheers went up for the district's newest alumni.

Mayor collapses
At press time. The Leader learned that William F. Glacken, mayor of freeport. collapsed during a chamber luncheon on Tuesday, Septcmbet U, at Bedeirs restaurant
Accotding to Frank F'orman. The Leafcr's adverti,<iing repnssentative. Mayor Giacken was maldng a presentation to chamber membere about the cMigdng renovation of the village. "He coil^ised, then recovered," said Mt Forman. "But he appeared to be feeiiag less than iOO percent.*' Edward Priedmaiu a member of the Freeport Fire Department, called for an ambulance and Mayor Glacken was taken to an :uea hospital for precautionary purposes.
