It's time for children, wives and friends to nominate a "Father of the Year' for 2007. All nominating letters must be received by Thursday, June 5, at 5 p.m.
The annual contest has been a Leader tradition since 1988.
Nominating letters of approximately 300;words may.bp mailed", e-mailed or brought" to'' 1840 Merrick Avenue, Merrick, 11566. The e-mail address is lmedit@opton-line.net.

The Freepdrt-Baldwin Leader, your community newspaper. Many valuable prizes are awarded by local merchants and businesses:" Two dozen doughnuts from Dunkin' Donuts; a free eye exam from Access Optical; a $25 gift certificate from The Schooner; a bottle.of champagne from Atlantic Bay view Wines and Liquors; a $25 gift; certificate from Piccolo Pizza; and a one-year subscription to The Freeport-Baldwin Leader.

Baldwin's Memorial Day Parade will be on Monday, May 26, with line-up along Grand Avenue and a starting time of 9:30 a.m.
Contingents,.will represent local schools and community groups and march to Silver Lake Park, where ceremonies honoring those who died in service to the country will be conducted.
Invited honored guests include Gold Star Mother Dorothy
McKenna and the families of soldiers Wilfredo Urbina and
Julian Arechaga, who died in Iraq during the current conflict.
1^, All are invited to attend, and particularly to stay for the
final ceremonies.
In addition, trophies will be presented for both adult and youth participants in the categories of Best Appearing, Best Band and Best Float.
