EMS students learn about internet safety
Volunteers from Child Abuse Protection Services (CAPS) spoke to Baldwin Middle School eighth graders recently in their social studies classes.
Using the Surfsafe program, the CAPS volunteers played animated video clips to open up discussion about Internet safety, cyberbullying, and social tietworkiiig sites such as Myspace and Facebook.
The anonymity of the Internet, and how easy it is to lie about age was discussed; how to handle hateful instant messages and text messages,>arid the importance of sharing this, information with - trusted, adults, friends and family. In an iricreas-' - ingly technological world, the .Surfsafe' program helps -. students counteract these potential, dangers in cyberspace. ,
