The 10:35 a.m. westbound LIRR train from Babylon, scheduled to arrive at Penn Station at 11:49 a.m., fatally struck an unauthorized person on the tracks at the Baldwin station at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday, February 10. The person struck by the train was a woman in her 70s.
The incident is currently under investigation by MTA police.
The train that was involved in the incident was canceled at Baldwin and customers were able to disembark and be accommodated by the following westbound train -

the 11:08 a.m. from Babylon, scheduled to arrive at Penn at 12:08. The customers from the incident train were delayed approximately 45 minutes.
As a result of the incident, Babylon Branch trains were operating in both directions using only one of the two tracks for approximately 1-1/2 hours resulting in delays of 10-15 minutes initially. The delays decreased to 5-10 minutes as of 12:40 p.m. and trains were operating back on or close to schedule on the Babylon Branch by approximately 1:20 p.m.
