"The residents of Freeport will communicate with the Chinese [business-people] to stay in.China," he added.
Mr. Raab also expressed concern about the recent announcement that only 175 people would be permitted to attend future meetings, and a three-minute time limit for all speakers.
Many demonstrators in front of Village Hall, who lined up to enter the building to attend the organization night meeting, found that they were not permitted to enter because the meeting room already was filled to capacity.
Half an hour before the official 7:30 p.m. starting time, nearly every seat was filled with the new appointees, family members and other supporters of the administration. (See related story, page 3.)

About 300 area residents turned out at Village Hall on Monday to protest a proposed garbage incinerator that may be located along the waterfront in south Freeport.
For more than a month, concerned residents of Freeport and surrounding communities and environmentalists have been hearing about a plan by Mayor Aridrew Hardwick for a group of Chinese businessmen to build a large-scale waste-to-energy incinerator that could accommodate up to 3,200 tons of municipal trash from New York City on a daily basis.
At a previous village board meeting, the mayor would only say that the idea was still being developed and no proposal had yet been brought forth.
"He [the mayor] won't talk to anyone
about this and that's why we're all out here," Patricia Rowen, one of the organizers of the demonstration told The Leader.
"We still have to keep protesting.and circulating petitions," she said.
Among the groups represented were residents of Freeport, Merrick and Rockville Centre, along with environmental groups. Operation SPLASH, veterans groups and the Tea Party political organization.
According to information from Ms. Rowen, residents' concerns include the possibility of burning hazardous medical waste and the increase of truck traffic and air pollution. She noted in an e-mail message that the proposed incinerator would involve "a number of municipally owned properties and the state-owned Albany Avenue Boat Ramp, which would close the boat launch."
Nassau County Legislator David Denenberg, who represents the area of Freeport where the proposed incinerator would be located, also attended the demonstration.
"We don't need another source of pollution," he commented to The Leader. "I don't think that adding an incinerator is going to help Freeport."
Mr. Denenberg noted that he led the fight to upgrade Power Plant 2 and the Barrett plant in Oceanside. He also said that he hoped the proposal "can be cut off at the pass before it gets to the initial planning and memorandum of understanding stage."
Resident Michael Raab also is up-in-arms about the proposed incinerator. He said he plans to get residents to communicate to the Chinese company that would build the plant to reconsider.
