Jr., to make preparations for a special mobilization to assist the
local defense councils.
He said that upwards of 4,000 members that are not already
engaged in defense work can be mobilized. He also urged all indi-vidual
posts to co-operate with the defense council in every way,
esptjcially air raid warden services.

night at 8:15 o'clock in nine instruction centers located in Hicks-ville,

possible, by bringing the wastepaper to the office of, the Central
Fuel Company.
The members of our T • jj;irii; post inc busily engaged tliesci
days in helpiiig to safeguard oui country, so if you can cooperate
with them in this v it will niake their tasks that much easier.
In an urgent appeal issued today James "Hap-py"
Norman, chief observer in charge of observa-tion
posts stated that 150 volunteers are needed
immediately to serve at the observation posts. This
work is to be carried on 24 hours a day for the
duration of the war, and is one of the most import-ant
parts of the national defense program. Ac-cording

builders of the Wonder Homes
located on Bay and Water ave-nues

issue of Newsgram devoted one
whole page to wish the Grum-man

a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year. This in itself is
proof that the builders of the
Wonders Homes are a real out-fit
to do business with and it
shews the manner in which they
do business.
Tlie most marvelous Christmas
gift you can give your family is
a Wonder Home and the down

more than you would spend
for gifts for the entire family.
The least you can do is to visit
these homes and see the wonder-ful

for the money.

man Moreland Jr. who is at the
head of all Nassau County air
raid wardens, this work is even
more important than the duties
of an air raid warden. It is the
duty of the observer to spot en-emy
planes first and to note their
position, number of planes and
direction of flight. The observer
must then immediately report
this information to the Mitchol
Field headquarters. The Mitchel
Field authorities in turn contact
the Nassau County Police head-quarters
who in turn flash the
signal to the defense councils
who relay the signal to our local
wardens. It is then the duty of
the wardens to sound the alann
warning the civilian population.
Therefore, it is not hard to real-ize
the tremendous task and ut-most
importance of the observa-tion
posts.
• All volunteers must be able to
speak English fluently and be
able to report or relay messages
over the telephone. They must
be residents of Parmingdale,
Hicksville, Bethpage or Plain-view.
