BETHPAGE GOLDEN GIRLS & COACH JEANNA NOVELLI
ROCK THE ALABAMA THEATRE FOR THE 3rd CONSECUTIVE YEAR!

YEP! They did it again, but it
wasn't easy! Tornado warnings
and canceled flights threatened to
hamper the Bethpage Golden
Girls' Annual trip to Myrtle Beach
for the EDA's Nationals 16th
Annual Dance Classic
Championship Competition at the
Alabama Theatre. Undaunted by
stormy skies and inclement
weather, Coach Jeanna Novelli
scrambled to employ the services
of a Luxury bus. Fortunately the
bus was available to transport the
team in a practically, non-stop,
overnight drive to South Carolina.
With hours of broken sleep in
their last-minute, over-night
accommodations, the Golden
Girls, running solely on determi-nation
and adrenaline, proudly
rocked, hopped and kicked their
way to a 3rd consecutive year of
Trophies and Titles!
Teams from all over the coun-try
are invited to compete in:
Kickline, Pom, HipHop, solos,
Jazz, Lyrical, and Variety where
they can showcase high-energy
choreography to popular music
with sophisticated routines.
Judges combine scores of rou-tines
based on stunts, technical
skill, difficulty, execution, choreog-raphy,
transitions, flow, timing,
creativity, etc.- -^v
Combining all of those skills,
the Bethpage Golden Girls came
out strong as they competed their
first day in the Classics
Competition. The only storm sur-rounding
them this time was the
thunderous applause as they
accepted Championships in kick-line
and Pom! In addition, Jill
Skuza, Amanda Liboreiro and
Courtney Kunzig, Team Captains,
performed a surprise HipHop
ensemble to Kanye West's, Hey
Mama. They dedicated the rou-tine
to their mom's, who, sobbed
a river of pride then exploded with
applause and appreciation when
their girls were awarded 2nd
Runner's Up.
Day two was exhausting, but
in their unsinkable determination,
the Bethpage Golden Girls, look-ing
beautiful from head to toe, put
on amazing performances com-plete
with energy, technique and
precision. True to their "nothing
less than golden" standards, they
victoriously prevailed and won
Nationals as Champions in
Kickline and First Runner's Up in
Pom. As the Championship title
holders, their stellar performance
also earned them National
Championship jackets that they
proudly wore as medals for their

efforts. In addition, recognition
was also given to Coach, Jeanna
Novelli, who was awarded with,
the well deserved, 2011 EDA
National's Champions Coach
Award. Coachie, as she is affec-tionately
called, has firmly, lov-ingly
and literally, raised her team
from hometown competitions to
the penultimate level of National
Champions! She, and her
Assistant, J.V. Coach, Claudine
Joannou, will always be remem-bered
for their spirited sideline
cheering, constant encourage-ment,
undying dedication, and the
very best memories that only a
high school coach could foster.
Moms and team love them both!
As another year closes, a new
chapter begins, and the team
must say goodbye to eight gradu-ating
seniors. We wish them all
great success! Good luck seniors,
and Congratulations to Coach
Novelli and her Golden Girls for
another phenomenal year!
Way to go golden Girls!
Bethpage's Bob Morace Celebrates
His 100th Birthday!
Mr. Bob Morace celebrated his 100th birthday on March 29th! Mr.
Morace was born in 1911 in Brooklyn, NY and was one of five siblings.
Mr. Bob Morace and Mrs. Josephine Morace have been happily mar-ried
for 71 years. They have two sons, Bob and Eugene, five grand-children,
seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchil-dren.
He and his lovely wife, moved to Bethpage in 1943 which was
convenient because he worked for Grumman, famous for the Lunar
Excursion Module. Things back then were very different in Bethpage
as there were only three stores in town. At that time, there were also
only three houses on the section of North Herman Avenue where they
still reside. Surrounding their home was farmland and they lived
across from Motor Parkway. Mr. Morace stated, "In our lifetime a lot
has changed." Mr. Morace has lived through some of the biggest
moments in American History and is still able to retell events accurate-ly.
He has seen 18 presidents come and go and the country grow from
48 states to 50. He experienced the crash of the stock market, sur-vived
through the Great Depression, and has seen a man walk on the
moon. He lived through both World Wars and made fighter planes with
Grumman for WWII. Mr. Morace lived before the technology that we
today are dependent upon. He was born before T.V., cell phones, and
the internet. The community and the country have grown and Mr. and
Mrs. Morace still love living in Bethpage. At 100 years old he is still
able to drive to church and the grocery store on a daily basis. The
Morace's are still living happily on their own. His neighbors enjoy
hearing his stories and wish him a very happy 100th birthday!
