Bethpage High School Students
ACE Food Services Workshop

Nicole Albergo and Stevie Clinko, two of seven students currently in the
ACE (Academic and Career Experience) program at Bethpage High School,
were selected to take part in a new initiative by working in the school cafeteria
for Aramark Food Services. Their responsibilities will be in the areas of food
preparation and set-up.
Nicole and Stevie attended a workshop facilitated by Assistant
Superintendent for Business Joseph Marchesiello, Executive Director of Pupil
Personnel and Special Education Patricia Hantzidiamantis, District Manager for
Aramark Education Rick Cenicola, Aramark Food Service Director Ryan
Curran, Senior Account Clerk Maria Karambatsakis, and teacher Ida Barry, and
then continued their orientation by getting acquainted with the kitchen staff and
Its environs.
Bethpage High School's ACE (Academic and Career Experience) program
is comprised of students in grades 9 through 12, and Is facilitated by the Pupil
Personnel Services (PPS) Department and overseen by Executive Director of
PPS and Special Education Patricia Hantzidiamantis. The program involves a
full year of job site training. Students volunteer at various local eateries and
shops, as well as the Bethpage School District Offices. It offers students an
assortment of opportunities for building life skills and preparing for future jobs.
The students, accompanied by teachers and job coaches, visit job sites on
a weekly basis where they learn about and assist with day-to-day operations.
They also attend trips to various community locations. Following each field trip,
classroom lessons and exercises are held to reinforce various skills such as
math and categorizing into the activities' themes. The goal of the ACE program
Is to help students gain independent employment by the end pf their 21st year.

John O'Neill Humanitarian Aware
Kirk Kordeleski, President and CEO, Bethpage Federal
Credit Union, is the recipient of the 2011 John O'Neill
Humanitarian Award, which was presented to Mr. Kordeleski
during last night's
Project GRAD Long
Island Achieving
Dreams Reception,
that took place at The
Chateau in Carle
Place.
Mr. Kordeleski
was honored with

Humanitarian award
for his significant con-tribution
to Long
Island's underserved
communities, includ-ing
his extensive
involvement in edu-cation
and unwaver-ing
support of Project
GRAD Long Island.
The John O'Neill Humanitarian Award is presented annually
to outstanding Long Islanders who embody the legacy of Mr.
O'Neill, a Long Island philanthropist and business leader who
helped stir Long Island's philanthropic community to support
Project GRAD Long Island, including its start-up efforts in the
Roosevelt community. Mr. Kordeleski, like Mr. O'Neill, shares
a deep commitment to the belief that children from disadvan-taged
backgrounds receive an equal opportunity to achieve
their full intellectual, social and economic potential by attend:
ing and graduating from college and becoming productive,
active citizens. The John O'Neill Humanitarian Award was
first awarded in 2005 to Michael Keenan, who was then
Senior Vice President for North Fork Bank.
"Kirk Kordeleski is greatly recognized as one of Long Island's
key influencers and as Chairman of the Board of Directors for
Project GRAD Long Island, we are grateful for his unwavering
leadership, passion and dedication to our organization and
mission to help educate underprivileged students," said Sybil
Mimy Johnson, Executive Director, Project GRAD Long
Island.
"A true humanitarian, John O'Neill helped establish
Project GRAD on Long Island. His charitable efforts have
helped thousands of young students in the Roosevelt and
Westbury communities achieve their dreams of graduating
college. I am honored to have received this prestigious
award," said Kirk Kordeleski, President and CEO, Bethpage
Federal Credit Union.
Heading up Long Island's leading community financial
institution, Kordeleski's main focus for Bethpage is the con-sumer
retail mid-market, including serving the many under-
