E.R. House Fire Claims A Life
At approximately 5:52 a.m.
on June 25th, a fire of undeter-mined
origin swept through a
house at 26 Donald PI., East
Rockaway, claiming the life of
20 year old Joseph Crawford.
At the time in question, a
neighbor saw smoke and alerted
everyone inside and five people
escaped the fire, which left the
second floor gutted. East Rocka-way
firemen, arriving on a signal
"10" were hampered by intense
heat and smoke in fighting the
blaze.
The homeowner, Eileen
Mclntyre, resided in the down-stairs
portion of the house, with
the remaining unrelated people
in various rooms upstairs on the
second floor.
The deceased, one of the
second floor residents, was
found after the fire was ex-tinguished
by the ERFD.
Detective Rozzi of the Nassau
