Ground Breaking Ceremonies East Rockaway Library Named

Lent (R-Fourth Congres-sional
District) announced
in Washington today that
the East Rockaway Public
Library will be the exhibi-tion
site of the Fourth Con-gressional
District Art
Competition beginning May
I, 1985.
"1 am very pleased that
Mrs. Ellen Rockmuller,
Director of the East Rocka-way
Public Library, has
agreed to make that facility
available for this art exhibi-tion,"
Lent stated. "I am
looking forward to a fine
show produced by the tal-ented
students^ of the school
districts that comprise the
Fourth Congressional Dis-trict
and hope that all who
«5ah will join me in express-ing
our appreciation
through attendance."
The entries will be judged
prior to the exhibition by
Site of Arts Competition
five noted patrons of the
arts. Chairing the panel of
judges will ge Capt. Lou
Bajarano, Executive Direc-tor
of the Fire Island Light-house
Preservation Society.
Joining him will be Christy
Edwards, a prominent
South Shore seascape pain-ter;
Jerry Leberfeld, Direc-tor
of the New York Art
Expo; Eleanor Simpson,
President of Long Island
Tourism; and Shelly Levine,
owner of an extensive collec-tion
of artworks.

"Their involvement in this
competition demonstrates
their concern for the youth
of the Fourth Congressional
District."
The winning entry will be
brought to Washington,

Dinner Dance Set
The Lynbrook Youth
Athletic Association has
announce d that their
Annual Dinner Dance will
be held Saturday, April 20th
at the Tally-Ho Firehouse in
Lynbrook.
Mrs. Patricia Gottlieb,
Vice-President, stated the
dance will start at 9PM and
go until 1AM. The dinner
will be a hot buffet style
meal with beer, wine and
soda included. Those who
wish may bring their own
bottle. The music lor the
evening will be provided by
DJ Bill Trotta.

to be filled as follows:

the Board of Education to
fill the office of Mary Jane
Brezenoff, which term
expires June 30, 1985, for a
new term commencing July
1, 1985 and expiring June
30, 1988.

held in June with a ribbon-cutting

from area high schools."
Island Park Man Charged
With Fusco Murder
A 21 year old unemployed
landscaper was charged with
abducting, raping and mur-dering
a 16 year old Lyn-brook
girl whose nude body
was found half buried last
December beside railroad
tracks near her home. Police
said that they are seeking
other suspects.
John K.ogut of Island
Park was arrested on Mon-day,
March 25 and was
arraigned the following day
before District Court Judge
Thomas Ryan, who, at the
urging of Assistant District
Attorney Edward McCarty,
held Kogut without bail. He
was charged with second-degree
murder and first
degree rape of Theresa
