Lynbrook Mayor Wil-liam
P. Geier has announced
that senior citizens at least
65 years of age, or disabled
persons, who are owners
and occupants of a 1 and 2
family residence in Lyn-brook,
may now designate
an adult third party to
receive duplicate copies of
their real property tax bills
and any notice of unpaid
taxes. This third party noti-fication
can be applied for
by completing an applica-tion
with the Village of Lyn-brook's
tax collector.
Mayor Geier stated that
almost everyone is aware of
the recent occurence in the
country of elderly persons
who lost their homes to
speculators after having no
knowledge of their delin-quent
tax bills. However,
with the help of this recently
enacted Real Property Tax
, Law the seniors and dis-abled
of our village will have
the added protection of hav-ing
somepne else, such as
their children, relatives or
even their attorney notified
and receiving a copy of their
real property tax bill. This
will insure that none of our
residents, although it has
never happened, will lose
their home due to a failure of
tax notification.
Senior Citizens over 65
and those disabled should
contact the Lynbrook Vil-lage
Clerk's Office to obtain
the application form. The
Village Clerk's Office is
open Monday to Friday
from 8AM to 4PM. You
may call Village Clerk Shir-ley
Moskowitz at 599-8300 if
any additional information
is needed.
The notification of the
third party designee will be
effective for the tax billing of
May 5, 1988 in accordance
with New York State Real
Property Tax Law.
