Kruil To Seek 2nd Term
E. R. Mayor Renominated
Charles M. Kriill accepted the unanimous designation for
the office of Mayor of East Rockaway, Monday evening, Feb-ruary
18, at the nominating convention of the East Rockaway
Citizens Party held at the Clark Street firehoilse.
New faces, nvnniiig with Mayor
Knill, will be 7'nistee cntxlidates,
Eugene Torborg and Harold J. Kelli-her.
Also running, for a full four-year
term as Trustee will be Ed-ward
O. Lerner, who was apiwinted
to fill the seat vacated b y Tnistee
Francis A. Tully, now Village Treas-urer.
The East Rockaway Citizens Party
mt^eting was called to order at 8:30
p.m. by President Joseph T. Sehmitz
and the main order of business was
reading of the nominating conniiitt"e
report by Chairman Wc-.sley W. Hill.
Trustee candidates Torborg and
Killiher replace n;tiring Trustees
Abraham Regen and James E. Clair.
Torborg, owner of a auto repair
business at Davison Plaza, East
Rockaway, lives at 19 Cammerer
Ave. and Kelliher, a real estate
appraiser for a nrtti(vnal organi'/.ation,
resides' at 10 Squirrel Drive. Edward
O. Lenier, a giirment manufacturer
in New York Cit>% makes hiS home
at 27 E. Voss Ave. All three trus-tee
candidates have been active in
civic and religious organizations in
East Rockaway.
This will the st^eond term of
office as Ma3'or for Krull, a lif'^?-
long resident of East Rockaway. He
formerly served as a village trus-tee.
Mayor Knill resides wiHi his
wife and children at 1.3 Lester Drive,
and is president of Charles Krull
& Sons phuiibling and heating
specialists.
The East Rockaway Village elec-tions
will be held on Tuesday. Mareli
19. The voting requirements for the
forthcoming Village elections, along
with the location of polling places
will be published in the coming
weeks.
Malverne To Have New Mayor
Morton Stein, fonner Malverne
Trustee, was nominated to filj the
office of Mayor on the Independent
Party ticket, at a meeting held at
the Legion Clubhouse last Friday
night. The oflic^; was left open by
retiring Mayor Francis Purcell, who
stated, "he needed more time to
devote to his business."
The Indep(,'ndent Party looks for

At St. Marys K. of C.
\Villiam Daly, Past Grand Knight, is presented with his "Past Grand Kniglit Jewel" by cur-rent
Grand Knight F. W. Carroll and Past Grand Knight Frank Nulty. The presentation took
place this week at the 42nd Annual Ball of the St. Mary's Council Knights of Columbus at the
Valley Stream Park Inn.

Mr. Strin, a furrier in NCM' York
City, lives wnth his wife and two
children, Xancv and Roland, at 120
Park Blvd. Active in civic and re-ligious
affairs for many years. Stein
has ])een in Malverne Village (Gov-ernment
since assuming the office
of trustee in 1951.

p.m. at the Malveme Firehouse, lf>-
cated on Broadway, Malverne. All
rcsklents of the Incorporated Vil-lage
of Malv<'rne are eligible to \'ote
provided they meet the registration
re(|uireuients. Tliese voting rcfiuire-ments

The new Village Party of Lyn-brook
named theh- 3icl and last can-dicliite
for tnustee Siuiday night.
William I I . Walker, of 77 Stuart
Street, accepted the nomination for
the remaining post of trustee.
Mr. Walker, a graduate of Lehigh
University in Pennsylvania, has lived
in Lynbrook for 22 years and is a
consulting engineer for the Fredric
R. Harris Company in NYC. l i e has
a wife and two children.
