Police Again
Get Stolen Car
The Lynbrook Police Depart-ment
who have made a name for
themselves in retrieving stolen
cars, have done it again.
At 4:30 PM on March 12th,
Patrolman Francis Carrizzo, on
foot patrol, observed a red Chev-rolet
sedan with two male oc-cupants
being driven in a sus-picious
manner on Stauderman
Avenue.
Ptl. Carrizzo hailed Ptl. Lee
Morris, on motor cycle patrol,
as he passed by and requested him
to stop the car. Ptl. Morris fol-lowed
the car and stopped it in
Parking Field #6, where the two
occupants attempted to flee. They
were, however, apprehended by
Morris and Carrizzo.
The two, Paul Tracy, 16, of
Valley Stream, and Alvin An-ziano,
18, of Hewlett, admitted
stealing the car a short time
previous from the Hewlett Bowl-ing
Lanes. They were arrested,
and with the assistance of Sgt.
Fitzpatrick, brou^t to Lynbrook
Police Headquarters for further
investigation and released to de-tectives
of the 4th Squad NCPD.

NO POOL NUSOS TO
Lynbrook residents have ap-parently
nixed a swimming pool
for the village. Last summer a
12 member committee was stf)-
pointed by the Mayor to deter-mine
how many residents were in
favor of such a pool.
At Monday night's Village Bo-ard
meeting the chairman of the
committee Charles Pfadenhauer,
reported that 4,500 questionna-ires
were sent out and returns
showed 2,127 against and 1,990
for the pool.
Mayor Mangravite thanked the
committee and said that this was
the end of the matter.

District Attorney William Cahn was the guest speaker at a meeting of the Lynbrook High School PTA
on Monday evening, March 14th. Mr. Cahn spoke on the problem of narcotics and juvenile delinquency.
"Statistics indicate that there is a rise in addiction among the youngsters of our community. I be-lieve
that ignorance is again the reason. Throughout the years a mantle of mystery has cloaked the prob-lem
of narcotics, making it far more interesting and enticing to youngsters. This mantle must be ripped
to shreds! The facts of narcotics addiction in all its stark horror must be taught to our children. An
educational program in the schools of our State should be set up. A program upon which the Educational
Leaders, the Medical Experts, and the Law Enforcement Agencies of our State can agree," the District
Attorney told the 200 members attending.
District Attorney Cahn (center) shows bottle of drugs to John Branciforte, Assistant Principal of
Lynbrook High School (left), Mrs. Hilda Weiser, President of the PTA (second from left), Mrs. Judy
Fischer, Program Chairman (second from right), and Dr. Edward Murphy, Superintendent of Lynbrook
