The monthly meeting of the
Village Board of Lynbrook held
on June 3, 1968 at The Com-munity
Bank, 15 Atlantic Ave.
was temporarily chaired by Dep-uty
Mayor Kurt Arndt due to a
special conference held by Mayor
Francis X. Becker with the Fire
Chiefs and representatives of the
Fire Dept. of Lynbrook on the
silent arlarm system in effect
in the village.
Deputy Mayor Arndt called for
the reading of the MkiutesofMay
6th and the Board took up a re-quest
regarding the use of the
Fire Chief's car. A request
from the Fire Dept. about a pos-sible
broken water main and re-placement
of it. A communica-tion
from Siperintendent of Pub-lic
Works Floyd Wilcox with
his recommendations on it helped
solve the problem. A request
from the Lynbrook Police Dept.
made in their behalf by the Pres-ident
of the Patrolmen's Benevo-lent
Assoc., George Behr, to
change the Policemen's payroll
to 52 times a year or weekly
was discussed and examined by
Deputy Mayor Arndt, Trustee
Bill Buzzeo, and Trustee George
Xydias. Village Clerk Ernest
Hansen explained that it could be
done but that it would take time
because of the present
machines for billing which must
be changed for each policeman
in the D ^ t . and the machine re-programmed.
He estimated that
this change might take about 90
days. This item was tabled in a
motion made by Trustee Xydias
and the matter tabled for 90 days.
. Village Clerk Ernest Hansen dis-cussed
the new contract for
P,B.A. members now being
studied.
A communication from Village
Attorney John Nigro regarding
the Issuance of Permits and ap-plications
for permits with his
suggestions on this matter wiis
next on the agenda. A review
on the awarding of a contract
for dolomite stone was brought
up with the Board questioning
D.p.W. Supervisor Floyd Wilcox
on the price per ton. It was
revealed that only one bid had
been received with the cost rising
from $4.33 per ton to $4.39 per
ton. Dolomite stone is used for
repairing the village roads where
needed. Mr. John Larson, the
Recreation Commissioner or
head of the Lynbrook Recreation
Commission explained about the
Senior Citizens Program in ef-fect
now in Lynbrook. The mat-ter
of turning the Recreation
program over to the County had
been carefully examined and the
Recreation Committee felt that it
had better stay with the program
in Lynbrook as there was no ad-vantage
in switching the program
over to Nassau County.
There will be a gala display
of fireworks on June 23rd at
Greis Park with per mission given
to St. Anthony's Society to carry
on the i^ecial program. Ade-quate

McGinity Unseated
In Surprise Move
By Roberta Grover
In a surprise move Judge Liff
ruled that the Election Law clear-ly
states that those candidates
running for office in a particular
subdivision must NOT be chosen
by anyone other than the commit-teemen,
etc. from that area.
It was also the Judge's observa-tion
that geography plays a very
Important part in selection.
Because of the latest devel-opments,
the Plaintiffs, Tom
Brennan of Rockville Centre will
replace Mr. Hampton on the Re-publican
line and Raymond An-derson
will r ^ l a c e Mr. McGin-ity
on tile Conservative Line.
At this writing an appeal has
been filed by attorney for the
defendants, John Cleary (former
campaign manager for Ralph Ed-sel)
in the Appellate Division
in Brooklyn on Tuesday which
unanimously upheld Judge Liff's
original decision, to be followed
by an appeal to the New York
State Court of Appeals on the
13th of June, in Albany.
The most interesting aspect
of this whole unique action is
that if this decision is upheld
in all courts, will the Executive
Committee of the Conservative
Party still back Mr. Cahn with
NOTHING to trade? Or can they
at this late date get him off
Line "C?". Or wUl they finaUy
throw their full supports to
Noel Crowley? Another question
