The annual Lynbrook Cham-ber
of Commerce Dinner-Dance
and Installation was held on Sat-urday
evening, June 22nd, at the
Lynbrook Elk's Club House on
Hempstead Ave., Lynbrook, with
a capacity crowd in attendance.
The Chamber paid tribute to
the four leading service clubs
for outstanding community serv-ice
with a presentation of pla-ques
to the Lynbrook Lion's Club,
the Lynbrook Elk's Club, B.P.
O.E. 1515, the Rotary Club of
Lynbrook, and the Kiwanis Club
of Lynbrook. Trustees Bill Buz-zeo,
Deputy Mayor, Trustee Kurt
Arndt, Trustee George Xydias,/
and Trustee Ben Rashkin, pre-sented
the awards and tribute to
to organizations honored for the
first time by the Chamber. The
following slate of Officers and
Directors was formally instal-led
by Mayor Francis X. Beck-er:
President Murray Levitt,
Vice-President, Werner Amling-emier.
Vice President, Charles
Englehardt, Vice-President ,
Paul Berger, Executive Secre-tary,
Mrs. Annette Ling, Trea-surer,
Miss Sarah Buck, Attor-ney
for the Chamber, Stephen
R. Ostrow, and the Board of Di-rectors
as follows: Vincent Ban-zer,
Brit Connors, A1 Gallopini,
Ronald Green, Frank Kesterman,
Herman McNeiU, Stephen R. Os-trow,
Arthur Davis, Jesse Fush-er,
Crawford Partington, Fahmir
Peress, Larry Moskowitz, Char-les

Charles Linnemeyer, and Leroy
Weisman. The Chamber-Lyns,
Junior Auxiliary of the Chamber
officers were also formally in-stalled
in a brief ceremony.

Retiring President Fred-erick
G. Danning was presented
a testimonial placque for his
services to-the business com-munity
, and his wife was pre-sented
with a lovely bouqsiet of
roses. The President of the Mal-verne
Board of Trade, Harold
Bernstein and his wife were hon-ored
Guests at the affair. Msgr.
Ronald McDonald of Our Lady
of Peace Church gave the Invo-cation
and the Benediction. The
Chambre Dinner-Dance was at-tended
by representatives of the
NAIM Conference, the Catholic
organization of Long Island Wi-dows
and Widowers and folks
from the Liberty Mutual Insur-ance
Co., the Community Bank,
Suburbia Federal Savings & Loan
Assoc., National Bank of North
America, Garbarlno's Rest-aurant,
Litho Chemical & Sup-ply
Co., the Independent Party
of Lynbrook, the service clubs.
Chamber of Commerce members
and a host of others. Mrs. Mur-ray
Levitt was the acknowledged
queen of the affair presiding
on the Dais with great charm
and beauty beside her popular
husband, President Murray Le-vitt.
Chairman of the Dinner,
Mr. Frank Kesterman and the
Secretary Mrs. Annette Ling
thank all those who made the
Dinner-Dance a great success
and the evening of the 22nd a
memorable one.
Special Patrols
Nassau Police Commissioner
Francis B. Looney today reported
that regular patrols will be
augmented over the Fourth of
July weekend by special patrols
cruising the county on the look-out
for firework violators.
Starting next week 16 two-man
motor patrols will be assigned to
cut down the firework hazard by
seeking out violators. All other
patrols will be alerted to intensify
their activity in this area, too.
And, at the same time, one car
in each precinct will be equipped
with a public address system
and will tour its precinct warning
of the dangers of fireworks.
Every year, children and adults
are torn, burned and blinded by
fireworks.
County polic are distributing
firework pamphlets in county
schools warning of the danger of
fireworks. 'The pamphlet notes
that fireworks possession, sale,
or use can result in a 90 day
prison sentence upon conviction.
Last year, ^ISS persons were
arrested, summonsed or re-ferred
for further investigation
for selling, possessing or using
fireworks.

Auxiliary Awarded
The American Legion, Mal-verne
#44 Auxiliary has been a-warded
an eagle plaque from
Nassau County for exceeding the
membership quota. Vice Pres-ident
Dee Frawley is the Mem-bership
Chairman, The Auxiliary
is also proud to have received the
Child Welfare Award from the 8
and 40 Organization, Judy
Canzoneri is the Child Welfare
Chairman.
On June 19, the Auxiliary paid
tribute to Min Brower who joined
in 1932, and is now the only
member from that era who still
regularly attends meetings. Mrs.
Brower was President of the Unit
in 1936-37 and took the chair
again in 1962-63, She has held
every chairmanship at one time
or another and has marched every
Memorial Day, It was her in-spiration
that kep the Unit going,
and it was she, who along with
other senior members taught the
younger members the real
meaning of the American Legion
Auxiliary,
