This program will be cancelled
only if weather conditions make
it impossible to maintain the

allow an arrival in the Capital
at approximately 3:PM.
It is important to know that
the purpose of this campaign
is not to place blame nor is
the N.C JR,P, suggesting any spe-cific
moves. Hie committee
wants only to mobilize massive
public support to help morale
in our Armed Forces, to re-assure
every serviceman that
he will not be forgotten in his
hour of need, to strengthen the
hand of our Government in han-dling
this problem by making
it clear to the world,-particu-larly
the communist world-that
there is unified support among
our people behind any honorable
action and to make it perfectly
clear to all our political leaders
that the American people feel
very strongly about this situ-ation.

. Mayor William M. Sheeser, at
the December 4th meeting of the
Malverne Village Board of
Trustees, expressed his hopes
for a yuletide season with less
vandalism to holiday decorations.
Last year, malicious mischief
r ep o r t s were widespread
throu^out the Village. Police
Chief Walter Kerzner assured
the mayor that he has instructed
the motor patrols to give special
attention to outdoor l i ^ t s and
displays.
Venerando J. I n d e l l c a t o,
Trustee to the Board of Educa-tion,
U.FJS.D.#12, accompanied
a small delegation of mothers
concerned about the traffic con-gestion
on Wicks I>ane when
classes begin and end at the
school. Feeling that the cir-cumstances
are especially dan-gerous
during inclement weather,
they suggested the possibility
of making Wicks Lane one-way
during school hours as is Davi-son
Avenue. Lindner Place is a
c«e-way street at all hours.
Mayor Sheeser stated that the
situation is under surveillance
by the police department.
Department of Public Works
S u p e r v i s o r , Henry Weissen-berger,
remarked that the
rainfall last month impeded leaf
collecting and that the wet leases
rendered the leaf vacuum nearly
useless. The Higjiway Depart-ment
was diverted from gather-ing
leaves during the bad storm
of November 13th, when they
had to remove several trees and
branches that had been blown
down, pump water from various
trouble areas and clear clogged
drains. It is anticipated that the
Village will be cleared of all the
leaves sometime during theweek
of December 9th. Therefore no
leaves will be picked up ff-om the
street area after December 13th.
After that date it will be
necessary to put all leaves into
containers for collection by the
Sanitation D^artment.
The Building D^artment re-ported
that in November, two
permits were issued for
dormers, two permits for porch
extensions and one permit for a
two car garage. The total esti-mated
cost was $11,450. The
following permits were also is-sued:
two sewer, threeplumbing,
eleven electrical, one grade, and
one street opening.
The report on fir ematic activi-ties
of the Malverne Fire Depart-ment
for November showed nine
fire caUs with a total loss of
$400. A total number of 286
firemen participated represent-ing
114 man hours of time. The
breakdown reveals one house
fire, $150 loss, one car fire,
six brush fires and one busi-ness,
$250 loss. In addition,
Sunday drills. Fourth Battalion
meetings, instructions in flre-matic
drills, and special details
represented 500 man hours in
